Bryan C. Taylor is a professor of communication and a previous director of the Peace, Conflict and Security Studies Program at CU Boulder. His teaching and research interests are interdisciplinary, spanning the areas of security, media, technology, organizational communication and qualitative research methods.
He is currently interested in theorizing and applying communicative explanations of security-related phenomena, particularly those associated with nuclear deterrence and proliferation.
He has published widely in humanistic and social science journals, ranging from the Quarterly Journal of Speech, American Literary History and Critical Studies in Media Communication to Communication Theory, Journal of Contemporary Ethnographyand the Journal of Organizational Change Management. He is co-author with Thomas R. Lindlof of Qualitative Communication Research Methods (Sage) and co-editor of the volume Nuclear Legacies: Communication, Controversy and the U.S. Nuclear Weapons Complex (Lexington). His research has received awards from three divisions of the National Communication Association, and he is a recipient of CU-Boulder’s Outstanding Graduate Advising Faculty Award.
